Surveillance Culture
I choose this photo to represent the theme of Surviallance culture. Surveillance culture has been a reoccurring subject throughout the semester. We looked at many examples that criticized surveillance. We currently live in a world where we have little to no privacy. We sometimes give this privacy up on purpose and this is the issue that is prevalent today. This image is part of the fourth part of the still image project. The theme of that project focuses on places and objects. I wanted to capture how these video cameras live in this environment.
Experimentalism
In this class, we really focused on experimentation. That's great because art is just experimentation. All of the media practices we viewed were considered experimental when they first came out. Contemporary art only exists in experimentation and this picture shows my experimentation in photography.
Interrogative Design
Art is a great way of communicating issues to the more general public. Great art does not blatantly show you its meaning but allows you to ponder and wonder. Throughout the semester we viewed a few examples of interrogative design and how it can be used to raise questions about certain issues. I choose this picture to represent interrogative design because it makes you question its nature.
